The 9/11 Cross

On the solemn anniversary of September 11, the Cross is our sign to remember the unborn babies and righteous men and women who perished on American soil in 2001, as well as the Americans who perished at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya on September 11, 2012. It’s also the sign of eternal life.

Two days after the terrorist attacks in 2001, a rescue worker named Frank Silecchia discovered the 20-foot cross of two steel beams among the rubble of 6 World Trade Center. At the foot of this cross, many rescue workers prayed to God for help and for those who lost their lives. Father Brian Jordan blessed the 9/11 Cross on October 4, 2001. Now it is a monument at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York City.

How do we get through trying times? Jesus said it best:
And he said to all, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake, he will save it.” (Luke 9:23-24)

Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Every one who is of the truth hears my voice.” (John 18:37)
